Chris Snee announces retirement, aged 32

New York Giants offensive lineman Chris Snee confirms that he has retired from the NFL following a 10-year career.

New York Giants offensive lineman Chris Snee has announced his retirement from the NFL at the age of 32.

Snee was selected in the second round of the 2004 Draft by the Giants and went on to have a successful career at the club, as he was voted an All-Pro on three occasions and was also a two-time Super Bowl winner.

However, the guard has admitted that injuries in recent years have prevented him from playing to his best and feels that now is the time to call it quits.

"I felt worse by continuing to work out," Snee told ESPN. "I am nowhere near the level of strength that I usually have. That's been my game for 10 years, being one of the strongest players out there and using that to my advantage.

"If I don't have that, I wouldn't be able to do my job the way I expect, but also with what they expect of me. That's kind of what [Giants GM Jerry Reese] and I agreed upon in March when we decided to try this thing and see if I can come back.

"I told him that he had my word, that I would be honest with him, and I was. I've told him that my body has had enough. With the way last season ended that's the last thing I wanted to experience again."

Snee played 141 games for the Giants in his 10-year career.
