Warren Sapp: 'Michael Strahan doesn't deserve Hall of Fame induction'

Former Tampa Bay and Oakland defensive tackle Warren Sapp does not believe that Michael Strahan deserves a place in the Hall of Fame.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp has expressed his belief that Michael Strahan is not worthy of being named in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Strahan failed to make it into the Hall of Fame last year but is among the 15 finalists for election this Saturday, with many people backing him to enter the prestigious club.

The former New York Giants defensive end lists seven Pro Bowls, a Super Bowl winner's ring and the single-season NFL record for sacks (22.5) amongst his career achievements, but Sapp is doubtful of his credentials compared to the other candidates.

"I don't think his resume stacks up when you put Tony Dungy, Walter Jones, Marvin Harrison and Derrick Brooks up. Those are four first-ballot Hall of Famers," Sapp told reporters.

"Four straight Pro Bowls and a mythical sack record. When you really measure it up, he comes up short, except you all are giving it to him.

"I thought you got into the Hall because your resume stacked up with the echoes of the game. Not just the good. The great."

Sapp, who has a long-running feud with Strahan, was voted into the Hall of Fame himself last year.
