John Mara: 'Jason Pierre-Paul should have co-operated with us after accident'

New York Giants co-owner John Mara feels that Jason Pierre-Paul should have cooperated with the club in the aftermath of his accident on July 4.

New York Giants co-owner John Mara has admitted that he wished Jason Pierre-Paul co-operated with the club in aftermath of his accident on July 4.

The 26-year-old was forced to have his right index finger amputated after he was involved in an accident while trying to light fireworks as part of July 4 celebrations.

However, Pierre-Paul did not communicate with the Giants in the days following the accident as the club attempted to evaluate the health of the defensive end.

Mara has revealed that he found the behaviour of Pierre-Paul frustrating, but feels that they can now move on from the incident.

He told WFAN: "He claims he does this every year on July 4 for kids in the neighbourhood. It was a bad accident.

"I'm beyond the point where I'm annoyed about it. I wish he would've handled it differently. I think ultimately he will be up here and hopefully be a part of this team because we want him back here."

Pierre-Paul will play the 2015 season under the franchise tag when he returns to fitness.
