New England Patriots release cornerback Kyle Arrington

Kyle Arrington's six-year spell with the New England Patriots comes to an end as he is released by the club due to his high salary for the 2015 season.

The New England Patriots have confirmed that they have released veteran cornerback Kyle Arrington after six years at the club.

The 28-year-old signed for the AFC East side in the 2009 campaign and moved his way up the depth chart to become a starter for five seasons.

However, Bill Belichick's men have opted to cut the cornerback due to his high salary cap number for the next campaign.

Arrington's place on the roster has been taken by tight end Fred Davis, while the Patriots have also signed offensive lineman Kevin Hughes.

The cornerback recorded 382 tackles, three sacks and nine interception in his six years with the AFC East side.
