Tim Tebow becomes free agent

Tim Tebow becomes a free agent for the second time in four months having not been claimed by any teams on waivers.

Tim Tebow has once again become a free agent after clearing waivers on Sunday.

Tebow was released by the New England Patriots on Saturday after failing to convince coach Bill Belichick to keep three quarterbacks on his final 53-man roster.

The 26-year-old finished pre-season with a disappointing record of 11-of-30 passing for 145 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in his three appearances.

He was deemed surplus to requirements during the final round of cuts and his hopes of being claimed by another team on waivers have now passed.

It is the second time in four months that Tebow has become a free agent having been released by the New York Jets earlier this year.
