Report: Vince Wilfork agrees terms with the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots reportedly agree a deal to restructure the contract of veteran defensive tackle Vince Wilfork.

The New England Patriots have agreed a deal to keep defensive tackle Vince Wilfork at the club, according to reports.

Wilfork's future with the team appeared to be in doubt when he requested to be released earlier this month, although the two parties have now come to a compromise over restructuring his contract.

The five-time Pro Bowler, who suffered a serious Achilles injury at the start of last season, has reportedly agreed a one-year deal worth $8m (£4.8m), while the contract also has an option of two additional years that could bring the total value to $22.5m (£13.5m).

Wilfork, who has been with the team since being picked in the first round of the 2004 Draft, took to Twitter to address the situation.

The 32-year-old is currently the second longest-serving player on the Patriots roster behind quarterback Tom Brady, and the duo are the only players still with the team from their last Super Bowl victory.ID:146873: cacheID:146873:1false2false3false:QQ:: from db desktop :LenBod:restore:1755:
