New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has admitted that he is hopeful that defensive tackle Vince Wilfork will be at the club for the 2014 season.
The 32-year-old reportedly demanded his release from the Patriots after they tried to get him re-negotiate his contract due to his high salary cap hit this year.
"Going back over the last 20 years, we've had some pretty special people come through, and [Vince] is one of my personal favorites," Kraft told reporters.
"I'm thinking of Tedy Bruschi and Matt Light and Kevin Faulk and Troy Brown, they made their careers with us. I surely hope Vince will be with us next year."
Wilfork played just four games for the Patriots last season due to an Achilles injury.
