Teddy Bridgewater signs Minnesota Vikings contract

The Minnesota Vikings announce that 32nd overall Draft pick Teddy Bridgewater has signed a four-year contract with the team.

The Minnesota Vikings have announced that first-round Draft pick Teddy Bridgewater has agreed a contract with the team.

Bridgewater was chosen with the final pick of the opening round this year, being snapped up 32nd overall as the Vikings traded up to make him their second first-round selection.

He has now signed his rookie contract with the team, believed to be a four-year deal worth $6.85m (£4.1m) with a fifth-year team option included.

Bridgewater was tipped as a potential first overall pick in the Draft at the end of the 2013 college season, but a poor performance on his pro day saw him slip down the chart.

The 21-year-old is expected to be backup to Matt Cassel or Christian Ponder during the 2014 campaign, although the Vikings have had trouble in the quarterback position recently.

Cassel, Ponder and Josh Freeman all vied for the starting job last season as the Vikings slumped to a disappointing 5-10-1 record.
