Report: Miami Dolphins ready to release linebacker Philip Wheeler

A report suggests that the Miami Dolphins are poised to part company with veteran linebacker Philip Wheeler, ending his two-year stay with the AFC East outfit.

The Miami Dolphins are reportedly ready to cut ties with veteran linebacker Philip Wheeler.

The 30-year-old joined the Dolphins in 2013 on a lucrative five-year deal from the Oakland Raiders, as the AFC East outfit spent heavily under new head coach Joe Philbin.

However, Wheeler is set to become the latest signing from 2013 to part company with the team, joining Brandon Gibson and Brian Hartline in leaving the franchise, reports NFL Network.

The linebacker recorded 164 tackles and half a sack in his two years with the Dolphins.
