Dennis Hickey looking to make Miami Dolphins fans "proud"

New Miami Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey is excited about the prospect of creating a winning team to make the fans proud.

New Miami Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey has expressed his desire to help create a winning team to make the fans "proud".

Hickey was named as Miami's new general manager yesterday after the Dolphins had been turned down by a number of candidates during their three-week search for a successor to Jeff Ireland.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel was delighted to have agreed terms with the Dolphins and spoke of his excitement at working with team owner Stephen Ross and head coach Joe Philbin.

"Miami is a great franchise with a historic tradition and passionate fans," Hickey said in a statement.

"The opportunity to work with Stephen Ross, Joe Philbin and the entire Dolphins organization to build a team that wins on a consistent basis is exciting.

"The Dolphins certainly have talented players and I am eager to hit the ground running with our personnel and coaching staffs. We will all work together to construct a team that will make our organization and fans proud."

Hickey had been with the Buccaneers for 18 years before yesterday's move.
