Miami Dolphins confirm Dennis Hickey as general manager

The Miami Dolphins confirm that they have appointed Tampa Bay Buccaneers' director of player personnel Dennis Hickey as their new general manager.

The Miami Dolphins have announced that they have hired Tampa Bay Buccaneers' director of player personnel Dennis Hickey as their new general manager.

Miami have been searching for a new GM after they parted company with Jeff Ireland at the end of the season, while candidates such as Nick Caserio and Lake Dawson turned down the job.

The Dolphins have confirmed that they had chose Hickey over internal candidate Brian Gaine after he spent 18 years with the Buccaneers.

The club said on their official Twitter account: "Official - Dennis Hickey has been named General Manager."

Miami finished 8-8 in the 2013 season.
