Kansas City Chiefs sign CFL's Weston Dressler

Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Weston Dressler signs a futures contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that Weston Dressler has signed a futures contract with the team from Canadian Football League side the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The wide receiver has spent the last six season in Canada, recording a total of 6,531 receiving yards and 43 touchdowns with the current Grey Cup holders.

The Roughriders assistant general manager Jeremy O'Day told the Kansas City Star: "He's not your prototypical big NFL receiver, but he's very savvy and crafty in his route running and that's what's given him a lot of success out there.

"I don't think you'll find a tougher guy, when he does get hurt, he plays through those injuries, and he doesn't want to come out of games and he doesn't want to miss practice.

"He was definitely our best punt catcher and has the ability to return it as well."

The 28-year-old joined the Roughriders in 2008 after failing to attract interest from an NFL side in the Draft.
