Green Bay Packers overcome Detroit Lions

The Green Bay Packers beat the Detroit Lions 22-9 at Lambeau Field thanks largely to five field goals from Mason Crosby.

The boot of Mason Crosby has given the Green Bay Packers a 22-9 victory over the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field in the NFL.

Crosby kicked his side into a 6-0 lead with a 26-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 52-yard one in the second.

David Akers reduced this lead to just three points at the halfway stage with a 53-yard kick of his own, but Mason restored the six-point gap in the third quarter.

The first touchdown of the match also came in the third quarter as Aaron Rodgers threw a 40-yard pass to James Jones, who had a clear run in from the halfway line to complete an 83-yard play.

Crosby extended the Packers' lead with his fourth field goal of the day, this time slotting his kick between the uprights in the final quarter from 42 yards.

Green Bay thought that they had a second touchdown late in the fourth but it was disallowed, forcing the Packers into a field goal attempt that Crosby kicked.

The Lions launched a concerted effort late on to overturn the deficit and went in for their first touchdown of the match through Kris Durham, who caught Matthew Stafford's pass to score.

The same duo looked to combine for a two-point conversion but it was unsuccessful as the Packers saw out the match to make it two wins from two at Lambeau Field.
