Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has conceded that he needs to do better against the read-option ahead of the clash with the Carolina Panthers in week seven.
Matthews has struggled with a groin injury so far this season but he has also been criticised for having his over-aggressive style taken advantage of.
"I know [people] are looking for someone to blame," Matthews said, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
"That's kind of how the zone-read works, is kind of forcing them into one way or another and having those players react off it. It's not, 'One guy is to blame.' It's having responsibilities to it. It's hard to explain."
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton recorded a 17-carry, 107-yard and one-touchdown performance on the ground last week while Matthews had trouble against Ryan Tannehill last weekend.
