Jim Schwartz: 'Ndamukong Suh under increased scrutiny'

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz believes that defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is under increased scrutiny due to his high profile.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has expressed his belief that controversial defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is under increased scrutiny due to his high profile.

Suh has been repeatedly punished by the NFL for hits on quarterbacks, with the most recent case arising from Sunday's match, when he tackled Cleveland Browns' Brandon Weeden.

The league confirmed that they would review the play, and Schwartz drew comparisons with an incident in the Green Bay Packers' match with the Baltimore Ravens on the same day, when Baltimore safety Matt Elam injured Green Bay's Randall Cobb with a low hit.

"Particularly for high-profile players, and he certainly fits the bill as a high-profile player. Yeah, it's, with that, with the Green Bay-Baltimore thing, I think it brought a lot of attention on how difficult it is on defensive players," Schwartz told reporters.

"There's a lot of things that happen within the game that are tough decisions. The game is played very, very quickly and those guys try to do the best they can. We leave the officiating to the officials and leave the administrating to the administrators."

Suh has already been fined $100,000 (£63,600) this season for a low block on Minnesota Vikings lineman John Sullivan.
