Detroit Lions sign Draft pick Eric Ebron

First-round pick Eric Ebron signs an official contract to join the Detroit Lions, with the 21-year-old expected to battle it out with Brandon Pettigrew for playing time next season.

The Detroit Lions have announced the signing of first-round pick Eric Ebron.

Ebron was the overall number 10 Draft pick last month and the player has now agreed a four-year contract with Detroit, with a fifth-year team option also available.

The 21-year-old will become part of Joe Lombardi's offense, where he is expected to have to fight it out for playing time with Brandon Pettigrew.

It is thought that Lombardi sees Ebron playing in a move tight end role next season, with the youngster being tipped to play well in a side with Calvin Johnson.
