Denver Broncos sign Antonio Smith

Antonio Smith signs a one-year contract with the Denver Broncos after being released by the Oakland Raiders.

The Denver Broncos have signed defensive lineman Antonio Smith to a one-year contract after his release by the Oakland Raiders earlier this week.

The 33-year-old spent just one season with his former team, and will be desperate to prove his worth in Denver in order to earn a long-term contract.

Broncos defensive line coach Bill Kollar worked with Smith in the same capacity for all five of his seasons with the Houston Texans.

Smith had 20 tackles last season and started every game for the Raiders, adding three sacks to his total of 44.5 in his 10-season career.

The Texans had also shown an interest in signing him, but the Broncos have beaten their rivals to the chase.
