Ray Rice: "I failed miserably"

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice admits that he "failed miserably" in the events that led to his arrest on suspicion of assault earlier this year.

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has admitted that he "failed miserably" in the events that led to him being arrested earlier this year.

Rice was charged with assault having been arrested on February 15 following an altercation with his fiancee at the time, Janay Palmer. The 27-year-old was alleged to have struck Palmer, whom he married later that month.

However, he has since been accepted into a diversion program, which could lead to the charges against him being dropped should he complete the course.

"I failed miserably, but I wouldn't call myself a failure because I'm working my way back up," Rice told reporters.

The three-time Pro Bowler had a relatively poor 2013 campaign by his own standards, rushing for just 660 yards and four touchdowns in his 15 matches.
