Ozzie Newsome would be pleased to see Ray Rice given second NFL chance

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome reveals that he would be pleased to see Ray Rice given a second chance in the NFL after having his suspension overturned.

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome has admitted that he would be "happy" to see Ray Rice given a second chance in the NFL.

The 28-year-old was released by the Ravens in light of the scandal of assault against his wife - then-fiancee - Janay Palmer, and was also suspended indefinitely by the league before it was overturned on appeal in November.

However, now that the running back has been cleared to play once again, Newsome is hopeful that one of the other 31 teams in the NFL will give him an opportunity to return.

"Well, I don't know what 31 other teams are thinking," Newsome told reporters. "I think we'll find out probably before April whether Ray will get the opportunity to sign with another team.

"If he gets that opportunity to play with another club, I'll be happy for him."

Rice has recorded 6,180 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns in his six seasons in the NFL.
