Mike Smith: 'Tony Gonzalez will not be traded'

Mike Smith denies that the Atlanta Falcons are looking to trade Tony Gonzalez.

Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith has insisted that tight end Tony Gonzales will not be traded to another team.

Smith said that Gonzalez has been a major part of his offense since joining and has played brilliantly so far this season.

"That's preposterous that Tony would be traded," Smith told ESPN. "He's an integral part of our offense and has been since he's been here. And he's having another Hall of Fame season.

"In my mind, the last two weeks have been maybe his best two games since he's been here. So he's an integral part — and will continue to be — to the success we're going to have."

Gonzalez has been with the Falcons since 2009.
