Mike Phillips: 'South Africa defeat devastating'

Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips calls on his teammates to win their next three games after a 'bitterly disappointing' 15-24 loss to South Africa yesterday.

Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips has said that he was "bitterly disappointed" with the 15-24 loss to South Africa yesterday, but has called on his teammates to win their "next three games to put it right".

The Red Dragons were within two points of their southern hemisphere counterparts until the 65th minute, but a Fourie du Preez try 15 minutes from time sealed victory for the Springboks.

"I am bitterly disappointed," Phillips told the Sunday Express. "We are used to winning here in Wales and we really felt that we could go out there and create an upset.

"Everybody gave it everything. We came back really well in the second half, but we just felt that there were one or two lapses in concentration and the game was gone from us. Obviously, they are a great side and they capitalised on that.

"It's devastating, really. We just want to go back out there and play the game again, but obviously we can't. We have got to learn from this and move on. We've got to win the next three games to put this right."

Wales face Tonga on November 22 before they host Australia on November 30.
