Warren Gatland relaxed about Gareth Anscombe international future

Warren Gatland says that there is no rush for Gareth Anscombe to commit his international future to Wales.

Warren Gatland has said that there is no rush for Gareth Anscombe to commit his international future to Wales, although he has hinted that the fly-half might have to move to Wales soon if he wants a place in the 2015 World Cup squad.

The 23-year-old has represented New Zealand at youth level, but qualifies for Wales through his grandmother.

While speculation has recently linked Anscombe with a move to Cardiff Blues, which would make him eligible for the national team, Gatland has said that he will respect whatever decision he comes to.

"I spoke to him about six months ago and said there was no pressure at all given his age," Gatland told the New Zealand Herald.

"But I said if he wanted to have a crack at making the World Cup squad it would be better if he came over this year."

Gatland led the British & Irish Lions on their 2013 Tour to Australia before resuming his duties with Wales.
