Sione Kalamafoni made the breakthrough for Gloucester after 15 minutes to cancel out Ben Botica's earlier penalties, crossing the try line to get his side up and running, before Robert Cook added the extras.

Harlequins hit back courtesy of Ollie Lindsay-Haugue's try shortly before the interval, and Botica converted to add to his own tally.

Matt Kvesic crossed the white line to the joy of home supporters, and Dan Murphy done likewise eight minutes later to put Gloucester into a commanding position.

There was still time for Dave Ward to give the visitors some hope with his 74th-minute try, but despite Botica's successful conversion, Gloucester held out for the points.
