Manchester City defender Micah Richards pledges to donate £20,000 to charity after receiving supportive messages following an injury setback.

Manchester City defender Micah Richards has promised to give £20,000 to charity after receiving support from fans following his latest injury setback.

The 25-year-old was forced off the field with a hamstring strain just 16 minutes into City's 3-2 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League group game last night.

After the match at the Allianz Arena, Richards wrote on Twitter: "Thanks for the support! For this great support id like to offer 20k of my own money to anyone who convinced me there charity needs it most."

Richards added that he will wait 24 hours before choosing the charity.
