Liverpool sent out a Snapchat message declaring that stand-in keeper Adam Bogdan was "safe hands" ahead of the side's 3-0 defeat to Premier League newcomers Watford on Sunday afternoon.
A late replacement in the side for the injured Simon Mignolet, Bogdan was at fault for the Hornets' opening goal in just the third minute when he fumbled a seemingly simple catch from a corner to allow Nathan Ake to take advantage.
Video replays showed that Bogdan briefly recovered to get two hands to the ball before the Dutch defender kicked it from his grasp in what should have counted as a foul.
Bogdan later admitted that his Premier League debut for the Reds had got off to a "nightmare" start.
