Jean-Eric Vergne: Chances of staying with Toro Rosso are "high"

Jean-Eric Vergne believes he has a good chance to remain with Toro Rosso next year, with the team keen on him staying for 2015.

Jean-Eric Vergne has said that the chances of him staying with Toro Rosso next year are "higher than one month ago".

The Frenchman was due to be replaced by Max Verstappen for the 2015 season as Toro Rosso planned for the teenager to partner Daniil Kvyat.

However, Kvyat's impressive debut season has seen him earn a promotion to race alongside Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull next year, replacing Sebastian Vettel and leaving a spare seat at Toro Rosso.

Vergne told Sky Sports: "The whole team I think is pretty keen on me staying. I think we have done a great job together.

"This year, we should have had a lot more points so I think we all want to keep going next year and move forwards from everything that we have learnt this year and go and score a lot more points."

Vergne sits 13th in the drivers' rankings with 22 points.
