Alexander Rossi will take the place of Max Chilton for Marussia in the Belgian Grand Prix after Chilton 'volunteered' to sit out.
The Marussia team released a statement prior to the racing weekend in Belgium declaring: "Max has volunteered to step out of his race seat for this weekend's race in Spa to allow the team to attract much needed funds by selling his seat."
The statement was released at the end of the three-week summer break before the season continues on Friday for practice at Spa.
Rossi, 22, will make his full Formula 1 debut for Marussia after only joining the team at the end of July.
