Lewis Hamilton wins Hungarian Grand Prix to lead standings

Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers' championship by six points after winning the Hungarian GP.

Lewis Hamilton has won the Hungarian Grand Prix to leapfrog Nico Rosberg to the top of the drivers' rankings by six points.

The 31-year-old claimed a record fifth title at the Hungaroring to lead the world championship for the first time this season.

Hamilton's victory was effectively sealed from the start as he raced quick off the line to beat his on-pole teammate and assume control of the circuit.

Thereafter it was plain sailing for the Brit and even when Rosberg twice came within half a second, he was able to deal with the threat and pull away.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo took the final spot on the podium to edge Kimi Raikkonen into third in the rankings.
