Wolverhampton Wanderers have climbed to the top of the League One table after beating Crawley Town 2-1 at Molineux.
Bjorn Sigurdarson's first goal of the season had looked like it was going to be enough to secure Wolves a third consecutive win in League One, until Crawley netted a stoppage-time equaliser through Billy Clarke.
However, a dramatic finale saw Wolves regain their lead seconds later as substitute Leigh Griffiths powered home from the penalty spot after Kyle McFadzean had handled the ball.
The deadlock was broken on seven minutes when Sigurdarson, who had been denied by a strong save from Paul Jones moments earlier, headed Kevin Doyle's left-footed cross into the net.
More Doyle industry down the left almost created a second goal on the quarter-hour, but Bakary Sako nodded wide.
Wolves, who had started so brightly, then went off the boil as Crawley began to dominate.
The Sussex outfit could have levelled the scores on 23 minutes when Gary Alexander set up Joe Walsh, who missed an absolute sitter from six yards.
Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was then called upon to make an impressive save to deny Nicky Adams.
Ikeme had to be at his best to thwart Adams again at the start of the second half, as Crawley continued to look like the better side.
However, Wolves soon responded and Sigurdarson almost made it 2-0, but, on the stretch, he failed to make a clean connection to Zeli Ismail's low cross.
Sako then forced Jones, who was the busier of the two goalkeepers, to palm a powerful free kick around his near post.
Clarke stunned Molineux into silence when he finished off a stylish team move to net his second goal of the season.
However, the stadium returned to full volume when Kevin McDonald's cross struck McFadzean on his right arm and referee Simon Hooper pointed to the spot.
Griffiths's penalty was far from cultured, but the Scot's drilled effort got the job done.
