Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor receive a standing ovation and applause from the Molineux faithful as Ipswich visit Wolves.

Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy was greeted with a standing ovation on his first return to Molineux since being sacked in February.

In his six-year tenure as Wolverhampton Wanderers boss, McCarthy led the Midlands side to the Championship title and helped them stay in the Premier League for three years before their relegation at the end of last season.

Appearing in front of the Wolves crowd for the first time since his dismissal, McCarthy and assistant Terry Connor - who replaced McCarthy for the final third of last season - received warm applause and a standing ovation from a sold-out Molineux.

A win for McCarthy today will see his Tractor Boys side go just one point behind Stale Solbakken's Wolves, who are seeking to avenge their surprise Boxing Day thrashing from Peterborough.
