Phil Bardsley a target for Aston Villa?

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert targets a summer move for Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley, according to a report.

Sunderland defender Phil Bardsley is reportedly a summer transfer target for fellow Premier League side Aston Villa.

The 28-year-old, who has stalled on signing a new contract with the Black Cats, is likely to be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Villa manager Paul Lambert is now leading the chase for the Scotland international's signature, according to Football Direct News.

Bardsley has spent time on loan at the Villans previously, making 13 appearances for the club in 2007.
