Alan Knill will not resign as Scunthorpe United manager

Alan Knill vows to continue as Scunthorpe United manager, despite the club's woeful start to the season.

Alan Knill has vowed to continue as Scunthorpe United manager despite the club suffering their ninth league loss of the season on Saturday.

The Iron, who are four points from safety in the League One table, were booed off by their own supporters following yesterday's emphatic defeat to MK Dons.

Some fans have called for Knill to resign, but he insists that he still has the full support of the dressing room.

"I can understand their frustration because they want to see their team winning and we are not doing that," said Knill. "Things are pretty low at the moment.

"What will be will be, but I hope to be here next week. No-one wants us to be in the position we are in.

"I am disappointed with the way things are going for us at the moment, we are being punished for every mistake that we are making. But I still have faith in the players, and they still trust me to help them with their careers."

Knill left Bury to join Scunthorpe in March 2011.
