Preview: Rotherham United vs. Blackpool

Sports Mole previews Saturday's basement battle in the Championship as Rotherham host Blackpool at New York Stadium.

Two of the bottom three sides in the Championship will go head to head this weekend as 22nd-placed Rotherham United host bottom-of-the-table Blackpool at New York Stadium.

The hosts have found things tough going since their promotion from League One, failing to build on a promising start to the season and winning just two of their last 15 games in all competitions.

None of those victories have come in their last six outings, while their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Birmingham City last time out saw them drop into the relegation zone.

Just as worrying for Steve Evans will be his side's lack of goals recently. They have failed to score in their last four matches, and only two teams have now found the net fewer times that the Millers this season.

Being dragged into a relegation battle will not have shocked Evans, but he will know that matches like this weekend's are must-wins if they are to remain in the division.

They have already lost to fellow strugglers Birmingham and Bolton Wanderers this season, and failure to beat the teams around them could condemn the Millers to an immediate return to the third tier.

Rotherham have been busy in the loan market in recent days, with Tom Lawrence, Reece James and Scott Wootton all arriving at the club, and they could feature at some point this weekend.

Jordan Bowery is also available once again having served his three-match ban, although he is unlikely to be included from the start.

Not many fixtures are seen as winnable ones for Blackpool at the moment, and they will be hoping that they can capitalise on Rotherham's recent poor form.

The Tangerines are still looking for their first victory under Lee Clark, and failure to find it soon could see the prospect of safety slip out of reach.

They are already 10 points away from 21st-placed Bolton Wanderers and nine adrift at the bottom of the table having picked up just eight points from their 18 outings.

A 1-1 draw with Bolton last time out saw their winless streak stretch to seven games, while they are still searching for their first away victory of the campaign.

Clark has been boosted by the loan arrivals of Kevin Foley and Stuart O'Keefe from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace respectively, and they could play some part this weekend.

Foley is expected to fill in at right-back for the injured Brian Lenihan, while Anthony McMahon remains suspended for the visitors.
