Preview: Rosengard vs. Bayern Munich Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Thursday's Women's Champions League clash between Rosengard and Bayern Munich Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Bayern Munich Women will look to record a victory that could secure them a place in the Women's Champions League quarter-finals when they travel to Sweden to face Rosengard.

While Bayern are level on points with group leaders Barcelona, the home side cannot progress to the quarter-finals after losing all four group games.

After beating Brann in qualifying, Rosengard have struggled to adapt to the step-up in quality during the group stage.

They began with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Bayern, before they were thrashed 4-1 at home to Barcelona on matchday two.

Rosengard were then edged out via a 1-0 scoreline by Benfica, and they lost once again to the Portuguese side last week, despite taking the lead.

Olivia Schough opened the scoring in the 30th minute, but a Cloe Lacasse brace gave Benfica the half-time lead before Nycole Raysla scored two minutes after the restart to condemn Rosengard to a 3-1 defeat.

Although Rosengard are unable to reach the knockout rounds, they will be determined to avoid finishing the group stage without picking up a point.

Meanwhile, Bayern are on the brink of reaching the quarter-finals after collecting nine points from their four group games.

After beating Rosengard and Benfica in their opening two group matches, Bayern were swept aside by Barcelona, who cruised to a 3-0 win.

However, Bayern were able to get the better of Barcelona last week, becoming the first team to beat the Catalan giants this season, with goals from Klara Buhl, Lina Magull and Lea Schuller securing a 3-1 victory.

Bayern were also victorious at the weekend, beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 to claim a fourth consecutive win across all competitions.

Alexander Straus's side know that a win would guarantee them a place in the quarter-finals if Benfica fail to beat Barcelona, while Bayern would only require a draw should the Portuguese side lose to the Spanish champions.

Team News

Although they have had a week to prepare for Thursday's game, Rosengard boss Renee Slegers could make a few changes to her side after rotating her lineup for the 3-1 defeat to Benfica.

Ria Oling and Bianca Schmidt are expected to come back into the starting XI to feature in a back four alongside Gudrun Arnardottir and Jessica Wik.

Olivia Holdt also dropped to the bench last week, but the midfielder is set to return to the lineup for the home meeting with Bayern.

As for the visitors, they could be without the services of Jovana Damnjanovic, Linda Dallmann, Giulia Gwinn and Hanna Glas due to injury issues.

They are also unable to call upon Maximiliane Rall, who suffered a broken nose against Barcelona, and as a result, she had to undergo surgery.

After beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 at the weekend, Straus could be tempted to name an unchanged lineup for Thursday's contest.

Rosengard possible starting lineup:
Micah; Oling, Schmidt, Arnardottir, Wik; Bredgaard, Persson, Holdt; Kullashi, Schough, Larsson

Bayern Munich Women possible starting lineup:
Grohs; Tainara, Viggosdottir, Kumagai, Simon; Magull, Zadrazil, Stanway; Lohmann, Buhl, Schuller

We say: Rosengard 0-3 Bayern Munich Women

Bayern are in confident mood after winning their last four games in all competitions, including a victory over Barcelona, and we think that the German side will ease to a comfortable win against Rosengard on Thursday.
