New York Red Bulls cruise past New England Revolution

Goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips, Lloyd Sam and Anthony Wallace give the New York Red Bulls a comfortable 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution.

Goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips, Lloyd Sam and Anthony Wallace ensured that the New York Red Bulls completed an emphatic 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution in the MLS this evening.

New York took the lead after just four minutes had been played when Wright-Phillips broke free inside the box to turn home a cross into the net.

The Bulls managed to double their lead within five minutes of the first goal, this time as the in-form Sam paired up with Wright-Phillips for some neat interplay before finishing beyond the keeper.

The game appeared to have almost become a formality after only 12 minutes when Wright-Phillips pushed forward to earn his eighth goal of the season and give his side a 3-0 lead.

New England carved out a small chance of a comeback as Andy Dorman converted and was eventually awarded the goal following some contentious debate as to whether he was offside in the build-up.

Any hope of the Revolution taking something from the game was thwarted just after the interval when Wallace opened his account for the season to make it 4-1 with a long-range effort that perhaps got a favourable deflection.
