Rafael Benitez comments on Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale tandem

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez says that he will look to use Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale as a front two in the new campaign when the opportunity arises.

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has revealed that he will use Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale as a front two this season.

During the Spanish club's friendly with Roma on Saturday, Bale took up a deeper position in support of lone forward Ronaldo.

Benitez has revealed that he will attempt to use the "alternative system" in the new campaign, but the idea is not set in stone.

"[Cristiano Ronaldo as the lone striker and Gareth Bale as the number 10] isn't definitive because you have to keep working, but it's an alternative system that we can exploit through the speed and quality of the rapport between them," he told reporters.

Bale is again being linked with a move to Manchester United, despite insisting on a number of occasions that he is happy at the Bernabeu.
