Paris Saint-Germain to take up £62m option on Mauro Icardi?

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to trigger their £62m option-to-buy clause in the loan deal for Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning to trigger their £62m option-to-buy clause in Mauro Icardi's loan deal.

Icardi has spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan from Inter Milan and initially made a flying start to life in the French capital, scoring nine goals in his first 11 Ligue 1 outings.

However, the 27-year-old has since scored just three times in his last nine games and previous reports had suggested that he would return to Italy when his temporary spell at the Parc des Princes comes to an end.

Juventus and Inter's city rivals AC Milan are among the Serie A clubs to have been linked with Icardi, but Corriere dello Sport reports that PSG now plan to take up the option to sign him on a permanent basis for £62m.

The French giants view Icardi as a replacement for record scorer Edinson Cavani, whose contract at the club expires this summer.

Icardi has played 31 times during his loan spell, scoring 20 goals and assisting four.
