New England Revolution ease past Colorado Rapids

New England Revolution climb to fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 3-0 win over the Colorado Rapids.

A 3-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids has moved the New England Revolution up to fourth in the Eastern Conference.

The match-deciding mistake arrived in the 10th minute as Lee Nguyen's tame effort was inadvertently directed past Clinton Irwin by the outstretched foot of Moor.

It took until just before the break for another clear chance to be created, but the opportunity was wasted by New England's Diego Fagundez, who could only fire a cross from Jose Goncalves over the crossbar.

Edson Buddle came agonisingly close to levelling the scores in the early stages of the second half when he met Kamani Hill's cross with a firm header which just drifted wide of the target.

Chances proved to be a rarity as New England defended stubbornly, with Dillon Powers coming closest to finding an equaliser for Liverpool when he fired straight at Bobby Shuttleworth from distance.

Colorado defender Thomas Piermayr was shown a second yellow card late on for a late challenge on Steve Neumann, and Nguyen added more misery by curling in the free kick.

New England wrapped up the win in the 78th minute as Kelyn Rowe took advantage of a loose ball in the box to drill home his side's third of the night.
