Rafael Benitez: 'Napoli will sign a striker in January'

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez says that the Serie A club will be looking to buy a striker in January.

Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Napoli are looking to sign a striker in the January transfer window.

The Partenopei are likely to be without Lorenzo Insigne for several months after sustaining knee ligament damage in last month's game with Fiorentina.

Benitez has been heavily linked with a move for Sampdoria's Manolo Gabbiadini, but the Spaniard refused to be drawn on which players he would be asking president Aurelio de Laurentis to buy.

He told reporters: "De Laurentis has understood that without Insigne we must do something in the transfer market.

"We're very active and that's something I like. We're working to bring someone here in January."

Napoli have also been linked with a move for Ezequiel Lavezzi, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain.
