Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly holding out for a move to Real Madrid next summer, when his current contract at Old Trafford expires.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly holding out for a move to Real Madrid next summer.

The 28-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and has so far rejected the club's attempts to tie him down to a new deal.

Pogba has started the season in fine form for Man United, clocking up a Premier League-record five assists in their opening two games of the campaign.

However, Marca reports that the France international is still determined to play for Real Madrid and is willing to wind down his contract if he is not allowed to leave this summer.

Should Pogba continue to reject offers of a new contract then Man United will have to cash in on him either this summer or during the January transfer window if they do not want to lose him on a free transfer.

Pogba would be able to discuss terms over a free transfer from January, and he has reportedly told his agent Mino Raiola that Real Madrid are his number one choice.

The World Cup winner has also been linked with a return to Juventus following Cristiano Ronaldo's exit, or a switch to Paris Saint-Germain if Kylian Mbappe leaves.

Instead, Pogba is willing to employ similar tactics to the ones being used by Mbappe, who is also pushing for a move to the Spanish capital having entered the final 12 months of his PSG contract.
