Manchester United will reportedly turn to Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino if they miss out on Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes.
The Red Devils have so far been frustrated in their attempts to prise Fernandes away from Sporting due to a dispute over his true valuation.
Sporting assistant manager Emanuel Ferro said on Monday that he does not expect a deal to go through, likely forcing United to look elsewhere.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Vecino is a transfer alternative for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men.
The 28-year-old has featured 17 times for Inter this season, but the report suggests that he will be allowed to leave should Christian Eriksen sign from Tottenham Hotspur.
Eriksen, also linked with United this month, is believed to be valued by Spurs at around £17m.
