Manchester City will wait until the summer transfer window to move for Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich, according to a report.

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to wait until the summer transfer window to bring in Germany international Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old's future is currently the subject of speculation, with Liverpool and Manchester United both believed to be interested in signing him.

Kimmich has again been a vital player for Bayern during the 2023-24 campaign, making 20 appearances in all competitions, scoring once and providing six assists in the process.

However, the midfielder's contract at Allianz Arena is due to expire in June 2025, and it is understood that he could be on the move during the summer transfer window.

There had also been suggestions that Man City could make an offer in January, with the Citizens bidding to boost their midfield department for the second half of the campaign.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League champions will wait until this summer's transfer window to move for the German.

The report claims that Bayern would be open to offers of around £50m this month, but his price is likely to drop to £25m in the summer, with his contract set to expire in 18 months.

Man City head coach Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge admirer of Kimmich, who made the move to the Munich giants from Stuttgart in the summer of 2015.

Kimmich has featured on 367 occasions for the Citizens in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and registering 100 assists in the process.

Bayern are allegedly attempting to sign Ronald Araujo from Barcelona this month, but they are expected to be priced out of a mid-season move for the Uruguay international.

Thomas Tuchel's side are likely to step up their interest in Araujo this summer, and selling Kimmich would boost their budget for the transfer window at the end of the campaign.

There have been suggestions that the midfielder is after a fresh challenge at this stage of his career, and a move to the Premier League is believed to appeal the most to him.

Man United will surely have to secure Champions League football for next season to stand a chance of signing Kimmich, and their absence from the competition could see Man City and Liverpool go head-to-head for his services in what would be a cut-price fee for a player of his calibre.
