A report claims that Real Madrid will not start negotiating with Manchester United over a deal for Paul Pogba until the closing stages of the transfer window.

Real Madrid have reportedly accepted that their long-running pursuit for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will last until the end of the transfer window.

The France international is part of United's squad for their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia, despite his agent revealing last week that he is eager to quit Old Trafford.

Madrid are believed to be the only side realistically in the running to sign the 26-year-old, but the Red Devils have yet to receive any offers.

According to The Mirror, that is because United are asking for an unrealistic amount of money - thought to be more than double the £89m they paid to sign him from Juventus two years ago - and Madrid are prepared to bide their time.

The report suggests that, like in 2015 when attempting to sign David de Gea, Los Blancos will wait until the final stages of the window before starting negotiations.

English clubs have until August 8 to sign players, whereas Spanish teams have almost an extra month to work with.
