Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for AC Milan and Inter Milan.
Smalling has made a positive impact since penning a season-long loan deal with Roma, with the England international featuring in the starting lineup on eight occasions.
While Roma do not possess an option to automatically sign the 29-year-old on a permanent basis, they are considered favourites to push through a deal next summer.
However, according to Il Tempo, the two Milan clubs are also monitoring the situation, aware that they can potentially bring in Smalling for a cut-price fee.
The report claims that United may be prepared to accept any offers in the region of €15m (£12.95m) at the end of the campaign.
Inter boss Antonio Conte is familiar with Smalling from his time in the Premier League, while Milan are unable to spend big money unless they make player sales.
