A number of Manchester United supporters have staged protests against the club's owners following Saturday's Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils managed to respond from a two-goal deficit in the opening four minutes to win 3-2, with Bruno Fernandes completing the turnaround from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.

However, despite the celebrations at the final whistle, with Man United recording their second win of the season, the atmosphere quickly changed among some fans, who launched fresh protests against the Glazers.

Last November, the Glazer family revealed that they were open to selling the club, and it had initially been thought that a takeover would occur in April.

There have been a number of obstacles, though, with the Glazers believed to be unwilling to move on their enormous £6bn valuation of the club.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have emerged as the favourites to purchase the Red Devils, with the former believed to be at the head of the queue.

A recent report claimed that a takeover could happen by the middle of October, with the ownership situation seemingly on the verge of being resolved.

However, it has since been claimed that a takeover is highly unlikely to happen this year, as there has been no real movement.

The latest bids from Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe are thought to be around £5bn, still short of the valuation set by the Glazers.

There is also believed to be a split within the American family over the best course of action, with some siblings against a full sale at this stage of proceedings.

Man United have made three signings this summer, bringing in Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, while the club are believed to be eyeing a goalkeeper, left-back and central midfielder before the end of the market next Friday.
