Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals that Edinson Cavani is now back in first-team training for the club.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Edinson Cavani is now back in first-team training for the club.

The 34-year-old was not involved in his team's pre-season preparations or their Premier League opener against Leeds United last weekend, having returned to the club late following international duty.

Cavani, who represented Uruguay at this summer's Copa America, is now back in full training with the Red Devils, though, and could be available for Sunday's clash with Southampton.

"Edinson's always looked after himself and, of course, he is lacking in team training, football training, but he's been looking after himself," Solskjaer told reporters.

"He had different reasons to why he came late, there were some personal reasons. And his body can tolerate a lot. It was something that was not physically, it was a different matter. He's chomping at the bit, he's ready to train, he's ready to go and let's see how much we can get out of him early on."

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward enjoyed a successful first season in English football, scoring 17 times in 39 appearances, and he has signed a deal at Old Trafford until next June.
