Jadon Sancho could miss Manchester United's final three Premier League matches of the campaign through illness.

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has conceded that Jadon Sancho could miss the team's final three Premier League matches of the campaign.

The England international was absent for Thursday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea due to tonsillitis but had been expected to be back in contention for Monday's match against Brentford.

Speaking during his press conference to preview the game with the Bees, Rangnick said that the illness would almost certainly keep the attacker out against Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion, while he could also miss the last match of the 2021-22 season away to Crystal Palace.

"Jadon might be out for the rest of the season with his tonsillitis. He will most likely be unavailable against Brentford," the German told reporters. "[It is] another three weeks to go against Crystal Palace. But for the next two games, I think it is unlikely [that Sancho will play].

"He's got inflammation on his tonsils and has also had some high temperatures so that's why he was not available tonight and he will most certainly not be available for the next two matches. Hopefully, they can get hold of that inflammation and if his tonsils have to be removed, that can happen at the end of the season."

Sancho has scored five times and registered three assists in 38 appearances for the 20-time English champions during the 2021-22 campaign.
