How Manchester City could line up against West Ham United

Ahead of Wednesday's Premier League game between Manchester City and West Ham United, Sports Mole looks at how Pep Guardiola's side could line up against the Hammers.

Manchester City play host to West Ham United looking to move clear of third-placed Leicester City in the Premier League standings.

With the Foxes having only recorded a goalless draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers last week, City can extend their advantage to four points.

However, Pep Guardiola's priorities lie elsewhere right now, meaning that he could make changes to his team for the visit of the Hammers.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how the current top-flight champions may line up at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite the frustration over the postponement of this fixture on February 9, the extra rest period may prove to be a blessing in disguise for Guardiola.

Aymeric Laporte and Benjamin Mendy, who have been suffering from muscle fatigue, have had more time to prepare themselves for a hectic run of games, and the pair should feature at the back on Wednesday night.

While Laporte is expected to come in for Nicolas Otamendi, Mendy is the obvious replacement for the suspended Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back.

Further forward, Phil Foden will hope to make just his third Premier League start of the campaign, potentially ahead of Ilkay Gundogan.

With Raheem Sterling remaining on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez are in line to feature on the flanks.

Providing that Guardiola plans to name Sergio Aguero on the substitutes' bench at Leicester on Saturday, the Argentine should play ahead of Gabriel Jesus against the East Londoners.
