Vincent Kompany ready to make Manchester City return against Tottenham Hotspur

Manuel Pellegrini reveals that Vincent Kompany is fit to make his return after six weeks out in Sunday's top-four Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been passed fit to play in Sunday's Premier League top-four showdown against Tottenham Hotspur after six weeks out injured.

The Belgian centre-back has not played since the Boxing Day win over Sunderland due to a calf strain.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini confirmed at his pre-match press conference today that Kompany was fit, but also revealed that Fabian Delph would be out for around six weeks with an Achilles problem.

Bacary Sagna is also missing for Spurs' visit, although the French defender is only expected to be sidelined for a week.

"Vincent is coming back from a long injury. He is an important player for our team," Pellegrini told reporters.

"You've seen Kompany play for so many years I don't have to say what he will bring. He is one of the best defenders in the league."

City go into Sunday's match fourth and one point behind their opponents after losing 3-1 to surprise leaders Leicester City last Saturday.
