Half-Time Report: Wigan Athletic take shock lead at Manchester City

Wigan Athletic take a surprise 1-0 lead into the break of their FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City.

Wigan Athletic are on course to emulate last year's FA Cup final heroics against Manchester City in this afternoon's quarter-final.

The Latics, who memorably defeated City at Wembley in May last year, have a 1-0 lead at half time, thanks to Jordi Gomez's penalty at the Etihad Stadium.

Championship side Wigan frustrated City in the early stages before almost gifting the hosts the opener when Ivan Ramis diverted Jesus Navas's cross just past his own post.

Wigan then took the lead in the 27th minute when Gomez coolly tucked home from 12 yards after Martin Demichelis had brought down Marc-Antoine Fortune in the box.

If the Latics hold out in the second half, then they will go through to play to Arsenal in the semi-finals at Wembley.
